“It’s your wife.”

“Take a message.”

“She says it’s important.”

Ed tossed the file on the table and started mumbling. “It’s always important.”

“Honey, he got another DUI.” Ed stood there paralyzed. Even as principal, he knew there was nothing he could do to save his son this time.

“So much for the football scholarship.”

THE HORROR, THE HORROR. I can't believe I initially wrote "their" instead of "there." I shall flog myself a hundred times and then have a nice glass of warm tea.

Good catch, "Not Ed." I definitely feel like an idiot. Oy. I edited the entry to reflect the proper use of the word "there," which I completely butchered earlier.
