Tinkering with the Resume

I’ve been tinkering with my resume lately and am considering including a section at the bottom of it to help differentiate me from other job applicants.

SKILLS, INTERESTS & HEROES
Basic Spanish, Writing, Politics, Movies, George Washington and Clarence Thomas (But only if what Anita Hill said about him is true).

I haven’t determined if this would make me more marketable or not, but I'm leaning towards the "more marketable" camp.

Well I think that really depends where you are applying... If you are applying to a large corporate law firm I reccomend not mentioning any outside interests beyond law review. Things like "reading" and "wine-making" are just going to distract you from your grueling 20 hour workdays (and slightly less grueling 16 hour weekends).

I tried out an interests section that listed wrigley field, theater and American Literature of the 1920s and 1930s and a judge I interviewed with for a clerkship directly made fun of it. So I've been too scared to try again since.

Jason C, What if I am applying to be a painter?
b'enson, That judge sounds like an idiot.

I guess I'll get rid of everything but the Clarence Thomas reference. That seems like the safe bet.

I'd rather be the most marketable fool on the other side of the Mississippi!

haha ok, well putting Law Monkey on your resume can take care of that, too.
