Senator Alec!?!?!

Apparently Alec Baldwin is considering a career in politics. When asked by 60 Minutes to comment on some of his public mistakes, Baldwin acknowledged the horrific voicemail he left his 11-year-old daughter, in which he called his daughter “a rude thoughtless little pig.”

Baldwin definitely learned from the experience. I just question if he learned the right things.

"If you go through the things I have gone through with the media, like this thing with my daughter, there's only one thing that comes to mind initially: That is how my daughter must have felt to have this played out in public." Sounds good so far.... But then he continued, "The second thing I realize is, you can pretty much bet all you own that I would never leave another voice mail message for my daughter that wasn't just like something out of a Rodgers & Hammerstein score."

Um, I’m not sure the second lesson is the proper takeaway. Shouldn’t the proper takeaway be (1) that you should NEVER refer to your daughter as a thoughtless little pig, whether it’s on a voicemail or not (especially if it’s a daughter you created with Kim Basinger – I mean, I’ve seen Alec Baldwin, and I’ve seen Kim Basinger – I’m guessing that kid is going to be, how do you say…. HOT, i.e. NOT a little pig even by Calista Flockhart’s definition; of course, it's entirely possible that she is a thoughtless human being, but even if she is, there's no need for daddy to call her an oinker), and (2) 11-year-olds shouldn’t have cell phones.

Ugh, don't get me started on this. It's never appropriate to call your child a nasty name. NEVER. I don't care what his excuse is/was... absolutely unacceptable behavior.

Period.

I was watching this too and had to restrain myself from throwing a fork at the television when he said that.

Too many people are wusses. We are all too busy trying to build up the esteem of the tragicly inept or too afraid challenge the jerks society for fear of hurting their feelings. People have lost sight of the role of brutal unmitigated honesty in the world. Don't blame dodge ball becuase your kid is obese and athletically inept and it makes him feel bad to get hit with the ball becuase he's too f-ing fat to dodge it and don't blame the british guy on American Idol making people cry because they can't sing worth shit. If his kid was acting as a thoughtless little pig, the I salute him for being honest. Calling his kid a pig doesn't make him a bad parent. It what he did afterward that counts. How did he correct his child's problem behavior? How did he nurture the relationship between himself and his daughter to resolve their fight?

It is entirely appropriate to call your brat child spoiled by your ex-wife a piggy. His ex wife is probably twisting the child around so much and making her hate her father and do things that she knows will anger her father. what is alec supposed to do? He cant go back and unpregnate kim.

Look like it's a 2-2 split.

Let me be the deal breaker. Alec baldwin is a dick. Who in their right mind would call their child a fat pig? He's an actor- a connoisseur of words. Why the heck couldnt he have found a more appropriate way of belittling his daughter, if that is what he intended to do. Im not going to judge his parenting skills since anyone can have a child and raise them how they see fit (bad, good) but he shouldn't have called his daughter fat. I mean COME ON. Shes a teenage girl. Why did he have to go there?! Obviously shit like that sticks with a girl. Trust me, you ask any women if they have ever been called fat, then can name the date and time. It just stays with you.

I always thought he was kind of creepy. I think it's the voice. But I confess he's PERFECT for the role on 30 Rock.
