Some random thoughts at the end of May…

Is Jos. A. Bank ever NOT having a sale?

I do not think the current President Bush has done a good job. I don’t hate his guts like a lot of people do, but barring some completely unforeseen chain of events, I can’t imagine history will look kindly at his presidency. With that stated, his former Press Secretary Scott McClellan, who just published a tell-all book about Bush’s White House and is promoting it like a complete whore, is an absolute idiot. Have you heard him talk, then or now? He speaks with about as much authority as Eric Cartman giving a lecture about being respectful to Jews. Actually, at least Cartman’s voice probably wouldn’t quiver all the time. Katharine Hepburn had a steadier voice than old Scotty does. In other words, he sounded like a moron when he was working for the president and he still sounds like a complete idiot even though he’s bashing the president.

A review of Forgetting Sarah Marshall and hopefully another movie (if I see one this weekend) coming soon.

i never heard the mcclellan guy speak (then or now), but it seems this book rips the bush admin a new one. and all they can do is say, "wow, he's not the guy we knew."

my gut feeling is, "well duh, he stopped drinking the kool-aid."

Disagree with you Chuck -- has nothing to do with the kool aid and everything to do with the fact that he knew the best way to make $$ and get book sold was to exploit his insider status and write a bush-bash book. He may have assuaged his conscience and convinced himself he beleives the shit he's shovelling, but this is 'hindsight is 20/20' bullshit and he knows it -- he only probably sleeps at night because he has a mattress stuffed with $.

I think both of you are largely right. I just found him completely ineffective as a press secretary and similarly ineffective as a Bush-basher. He just comes across as really weak.

did you see the interview with katie couric? she ripped him a new one.

i'm curious, butterflyfish. do you think he's making all this stuff up and the bush admin is not as bad as what he is saying?
